Contents
Per 10 mL Ferrous gluconate 431.6 mg (equiv to Fe 50 mg), manganese gluconate 10.77 mg (equiv to manganese 1.33 mg), copper gluconate 5 mg (equiv to copper 0.7 mg)
Indications/Uses
Fe deficiency anaemia related to pregnant women, post-partum period or lactation, & in parasitic infestation. Asthenia related to convalescence or overwork.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Curative treatment 2-4 amp daily. Childn ≥1 mth 5-10 mg/kg/day. Pregnant women Preventive treatment 1 amp daily during last 2 quarters of pregnancy (or from the 4th mth). Duration of treatment: Fe deficiency anaemia: Adult female: Sufficient to correct anaemia & restore last reserves of 600 mg for 3-6 mth depending on depletion of reserves; may be prolonged if cause is not controlled. Adult male: Sufficient to correct anaemia & restore last reserves of 1,200 mg for 3-6 mth depending on depletion of reserves; may be prolonged if cause is not controlled.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Not recommended for the treatment of anaemia due to malnutrition & pernicious anaemia.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ GI ulcer, chronic colitis & various GI disease; caramel pigment sensitivity or allergy. Black coloration of stool (normal or usual).
Adverse Reactions
Vomiting, stomach ache, diarrhea, abdominal flatus, gastric dysphoria. Rash.
Drug Interactions
Avoid concurrent administration w/ antacids, antibiotics (tetracyclines) & tannins.
